ALUMNUS AWARDED THE U.S. TREASURY DEPARTMENT'S HIGHEST HONOR

Chris A. Smith, MPA 86, has been awarded the U.S. Treasury Departments highest honor, the Alexander Hamilton Award. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the highest standards of, and dedication to, public service. Smith provided leadership to the Treasury Department first as counselor to the secretary and later as Treasurys chief of staff. He was a trusted advisor to both Secretary Paul O’Neill and Secretary John Snow on a wide range of domestic and international policy issues, including the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 and the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003.
