MESSAGE FROM MORY

Dear Fellow Alumni,

If you have worked with current students in the past, either through one of our volunteer opportunities, through mentoring, or through one of your school’s programs, then you know that while alumni are excellent resources for students, students are also an excellent resource for alumni. Working with and getting to know current students is an invigorating experience and one of the best ways to give back to your alma mater. That is why the GW Alumni Association offers a number of programs designed to connect alumni and students in meaningful ways.

Last year we organized five successful events in the “How Do I Become A…?” lecture series, one of the most popular of which featured Warren Brown, the host of a popular Food Network show, Sugar Rush. One new event, and a decided highlight of the year, was our first-ever “Zero” Year Reunion, attended by 550 seniors during Grad Week. Members of the George Washington Alumni Association greeted the seniors and encouraged them to remain involved with GW.

This past year we also more than doubled the number of dinners hosted through our Dinner with Alumni Program, with more than 30 dinners taking place. Nearly 300 students took advantage of these personal networking opportunities, and every one of them wrote back to tell us that the experience was both fun and rewarding. If you would like to become a dinner host, send an e-mail to dinner@gwu.edu, or see the description below.

Working with students is a gratifying experience in so many ways. I hope that you will find a way to get involved with one of our programs in the future – you won’t be sorry!

Sincerely,

Scott M. Mory, BA 96, JD 99
Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving
