Greetings fellow alumni –

If you have worked with current students in the past, either through one of our volunteer opportunities, through mentoring, or through one of your school’s programs, then you know that while alumni are excellent resources for students, students are also an excellent resource for alumni. Working with and getting to know current students is an invigorating experience and one of the best ways to give back to your alma mater. Alumna Takes Healing Expertise Overseas
Sangeeta Patel Prasad received a master’s in art therapy from the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences in 1989 and has been working to promote awareness of her profession in India for more than 10 years. Born in India, Prasad makes her home in Oakton, Va., with husband and fellow GW alumnus Ramnath Prasad, MA 87, and their two children, Supna and Nikhil. READ FULL ARTICLE
Phyllis Brown, BS ’44, has won the 2006 EAS Award for Achievements in Separation Science, sponsored by Waters Corporation. Brown is a pioneer in the applications of HPLC and CE to biochemistry and medical research and is professor emerita at the University of Rhode Island.
Jamie L. Callahan, EdD ’99, assistant professor at Texas A&M University and an alumnus of the Human Resource Development (HRD) doctoral program, was awarded the Early Career Scholar Award by the Academy of Human Resource Development at the 2006 conference. The award goes to an outstanding HRD scholar in the early stages of his or her career who has made significant research contributions to the field.
Ahmed Elmi, MPH ’03, co-founder and president of Somali American Community Association, was interviewed by Chicago National Public Radio about the recent takeover of the capital of Somalia by Islamic militia. Elmi is a community health educator with the Center for Cancer Surveillance and Control at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental hygiene. To listen to the interview, click here.
