Understanding the United States’ role in the international arena
requires knowledge of U.S. foreign policy, but also requires an education
on how U.S. foreign policy is made, the history that informs it, the
political culture that sustains it, and the ideas and interests that
drive it.
The U.S. Foreign Policy Institute (USFPI) offers two programs in the
summer of 2006. The programs, offered for academic credit, feature core
lectures by the U.S. Foreign Policy Institute director, guest lectures
by GW faculty, and speakers from a wide variety of organizations. Students
will be briefed at key institutions that shape U.S. foreign policy.
Additionally, students interested specifically in journalism may elect
to take an additional weeklong course entitled Reporting U.S. Foreign
Policy.
The application deadline for the summer sessions is April 21. For more
information and an application form, please visit the USFPI website
or call 202-994-1950.
