COMMENCEMENT 2006 NEWS

The GW Vice President for Communications, Michael Freedman, has announced that the May 2006 University-wide Commencement ceremony will not be held on Ellipse as a result of renovation plans by the National Park Service. Commencement on the Ellipse is a University tradition that began in 1992 by President Trachtenberg. GW is currently looking for alternative sites for the ceremony that will provide the look and feel of the Ellipse, while ensuring the safety and security of the graduates and guests. Some alternative sites include the MCI Center, Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium, and another site on the National Mall.
