Message from Mory

Greetings fellow alumni –

Fall has arrived and the Office of Alumni Programs is busy with a new semester at GW. One of our most exciting annual events, Colonials Weekend, is right around the corner, October 21-23, and several activities have been planned for the weekend. The 3rd annual Kick-off Party, one of our most popular alumni events, takes place on Friday night at Alumni House, followed by Jon Stewart at the Smith Center. Saturday is filled with lectures, Colonials Village – an all-day festival on Kogan Plaza and H Street – and evening entertainment with the Boston Pops.

There is an array of other events, including trolley tours of the University, a cabaret showcase on Friday night, and a silent auction benefiting the 2006 Senior Class Gift Campaign. There is something for everyone at Colonials Weekend and we look forward to seeing you there. For more information, see Alumni News, on the front page of the Colonial Cable, or visit our website.

Reunions for the classes of 1980, 1995, and 2000 will take place on Saturday night. These occasions are excellent opportunities for class members to revisit GW and reminisce with classmates from the past. For some, such as the 25th reunion class, exploring all of the changes on campus will be memorable. For others, such as the Class of 2000, the weekend is a great opportunity to network with both new and old friends from GW. To register for your class event, or for more information, visit our website.

Finally, as you have probably noticed, the Colonial Cable has a brand new look. We wanted to make it as simple as possible for you to access GW news that you find the most important. First, we have arranged the articles in columns, making it easier to scan the newsletter to locate items of personal interest. In October’s Colonial Cable, we will add a series of tabs across the top of the page, linked directly to each of the individual schools, enabling you to access your school’s alumni information quickly and easily. We hope that you like this new version of the Colonial Cable. Please tell us your thoughts – simply e-mail cable@gwu.edu with your comments.

The Colonials Weekend celebration is the perfect opportunity for the entire GW community to come together – to reminisce and to celebrate. We hope to see you here in October!

Sincerely,

Scott M. Mory, BA ’96, JD ’99
