| “DEEP
THROAT” IS GW ALUMNUS
Uncovering a Washington mystery for over 30
years, Vanity Fair magazine recently revealed the identity
of “Deep Throat” as W. Mark Felt, a former FBI associate
director and 1940 graduate of the GW Law School. Felt, the number
two official in the FBI during the early 1970s, was the confidential
source who provided crucial information to Washington Post
reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein about the 1972 break-in
at the National Democratic Committee headquarters in the Watergate
complex. This information led to a series of articles that sparked
investigation and the eventual resignation of President Richard
Nixon. To read more GW coverage of “Deep Throat” please
