NATIONAL COUNCIL MEMBER A BUSINESS SUCCESS
The Washington Business Journal recently profiled GW alumna Candace Kaplan, BA ’70, owner and president of Kaplan Financial Group. Kaplan earned her degree in political science from the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences in 1970.

When Kaplan founded her company in Chevy Chase, Maryland, in 1979, she focused on disability insurance. Over the years, to weather economic downturns, the company widened its offerings. Today, Kaplan’s firm has about 100 group and 2,000 individual clients, including biotechnology companies, schools, and nonprofit organizations.

Last year, Kaplan agreed to serve on the National Council of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. As part of her involvement with the council, she advises University leaders on management, financial, and leadership issues. CCAS is thrilled to have such a successful businesswoman on board!
