FIRST RESPONDER TRAINING CENTER SET FOR VIRGINIA CAMPUS
GW will spearhead an effort to create a first responder training center on its Virginia Campus with funding recently approved by Congress. The appropriation will establish the Response to Emergencies and Disasters Institute to train firefighters, law enforcement, EMS personnel, and other health care providers in an integrated approach to major emergencies including terrorism.

WILLIAMS APPOINTED TO WHITE HOUSE HOMELAND SECURITY PANEL
John F. "Skip" Williams, MD, EdD, GW's provost, vice president for health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, was recently named to the panel by Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.

WOMEN'S HEALTH CONGRESS ON MARCH 15
The GW Medical Faculty Associates will host the Inaugural Women's Health Congress in the Marvin Center on Saturday, March 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend this event, which will address the latest developments in women's health issues. There is a $50 registration fee which includes conference materials, breakfast and lunch. For more information, please visit the Medical Faculty Associates web site or call 202-741-3381.

WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE ON APRIL 4
The Mount Vernon Alumnae Association and The Columbian Women of The George Washington University are sponsoring a Women's Leadership Conference, "Connections for the Future," on April 4th, at the Mount Vernon campus. The conference will address issues for women such as professional development, leadership trends, networking and mentoring, breaking the glass ceiling, and how to balance career, home and family.
