WILLIAMS NAMED UNIVERSITY PROVOST
President Stephen Joel Trachtenberg recently appointed John F. "Skip" Williams, MD, EdD, to the newly reinstated position of University Provost. He also announced promotions for top administrators in Academic Affairs, Finance, and Student/Academic Support Services.

COLONIALS WEEKEND 2003 SET FOR OCTOBER 17-19
Plans for this year's Colonials Weekends are under way. Be sure to mark your calendars and stay tuned for forthcoming details.

CELEBRATE GEORGE WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY
We hope you'll join us for a day of festivities honoring the birthday of George Washington on Saturday, February 22, starting with an Alumni Tailgate party in Alumni House at 12:30 p.m. and the men's basketball team in action against La Salle. Tip off is at 2 p.m. The tailgate party is free (call 202-994-6435 to RSVP) and the game is $5. Then stay around campus for a Colonial Tea and weathervane dedication in the Luther W. Brady Art Gallery at 4:30 p.m. (call 202-994-7129 to RSVP), and cap the day off at our bonfire on the University Yard, starting at 6 p.m. (If you can't make it, be with us in spirit by wearing your blue and buff!)

DC STUDENT-ALUMNI CAREER NETWORKING NIGHT
The third annual DC student-alumni career networking night will be held on March 5 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Marvin Center Ballroom. The first hour will feature alumni-to-alumni networking and will include a 40-minute "Networking Basics" workshop. The students will join in at 7:30 p.m. Please RSVP by calling 202-994-6437 or by sending an e-mail to eaking@gwu.edu. Please include your career field, GW school affiliation, graduation year and whether or not you plan to attend the workshop with your RSVP. The evening is a wonderful opportunity for networking and your experience is a valuable resource for current GW students.

GELMAN LIBRARY SYSTEM INTERNATIONAL FILM SERIES
The Friends of the GW Libraries extends a special invitation to the GW Community, including alumni, to a series of international films being presented on Sunday evenings this spring. The next one is on February 9. Bring your GW Alumni Association card for free admission. For more information and a schedule of the films, go to the Gelman Library web site.

THE CAPITOLS VS. FLYERS ALUMNI NIGHT HOCKEY GAME ON MARCH 10
The Washington Capitols and the GW Young Alumni Council are proud to sponsor GW Alumni Night. Come and watch the Caps take on the Philadelphia Flyers in the MCI Center on March 10 at 7 p.m. for a special ticket rate of $20. Seating is limited, so act fast. The Capitals have requested that we give them a final number of tickets by Thursday, February 13, 2003. Please call Alumni House at 202-994-6435 to reserve your tickets. Payment must be received in advance. Alumni House accepts MasterCard or Visa or you can mail a check payable to GW to Alumni House, ATTN: Washington Capitals Game, 1925 F Street, NW, Washington, DC 20052. Checks must be received by February 13, 2003. No RSVPs will be taken via e-mail, you must CALL Alumni House to make your reservation.
