SEPTEMBER
11, ONE YEAR LATER
The George Washington University is commemorating the anniversary of the
September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. In addition
to observing a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., a number of memorial events
will take place on campus. As part of the commemoration, two GW sophomores
have brought the University community, DC officials, and civic leaders
together to create a series of more than 350 3 feet-by-3 feet cloth panels
sewn together to create an American flag. This "Freedom Quilt" will be
unveiled on September 12 on the grounds of the Washington Monument and will
be on display through September 15.
