GW ALUMNUS ELECTED GOVERNOR OF VIRGINIA Mark R. Warner, a 1977 graduate of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, was elected to the Virginia governorship in November. Warner will assume office on January 1, 2002.

COLONIAL MEN AND WOMEN SUCCESSFUL OVER OPPONENTS The GW Men's basketball team is off to its best season start in five years, with a 7-3 record after beating Providence, 83-77, on Saturday.
The Colonial women were also victorious, beating Rutgers 58-54 on Wednesday in an overtime thriller.
